Mato Frankovic took office as Mayor of Dubrovnik in June 2017.

In 2003, he graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York with a degree in Applied Sciences, and then continued to develop his professional career in tourism. He was the manager of the Generalturist Office in Dubrovnik (2005-2009), and also the executive director of the Lanta Generalturist office in Montenegro (2007-2009).

In 2009, he was appointed as Director of ACI Marina Dubrovnik. He retained this position for a full eight years, up until the year 2017, when he was elected as Mayor of Dubrovnik during the direct elections. He also took on the role of Regional Coordinator for ACI Marina, covering the South Adriatic region (2013-2015).

He was also Chairman of Hotel Maestral’s Advisory Board (2006-2012), and a Tourist Council member of the Croatian National Tourist Board (2016-2017).

Among numerous political activities, he was also Chairman of the Dubrovnik City Council (2015-2017), and a member of Croatian Parliament (2016-2017), where he was also Head of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

In April 2024, he was re-elected as a representative of the Croatian Parliament in its 11th term, a position he still holds. He is also a member of the Tourism Committee, a member of the Interparliamentary Co-operation Committee and a member of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

He is an active member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), as well as Chairman of Dubrovnik’s HDZ City Committee since 2014.
