PhD. Tomislav Batur was born in 1967 in Split. Throughout his professional and scientific engagement is associated with various aspects of the marine field, from technical through economic to legal issues.

His professional career began as an engineering officer in the merchant navy ships (1988 -1994), he worked in the civil service (Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure) on matters of maritime inspection (1994-2005), and from 2005 he is employed in the Port of Ploče Authority mainly as general manager. He is also engaged on Faculty of Maritime studies in Split as assistant professor.

He is author of several scientific papers in the field of shipping, marine engineering and maritime law.
